    Hi, it’s traditional Jain or also vedic or ayurvedic cooking. Also, the asafetida (hing) is a good substitute and better for digestion. :-)

    You shred with a knife and grate with a grater!
    Seriously, that’s pretty much it.
    As long as you don’t grate too fine they are very much the same.

    i use tofutti dairy-free cream cheese. it tastes just like cream cheese and it works VERY well in this recipe, try it

    Store your spices in either a glass or stainless steel container…You can get those from Bed, bath & beyond.

    Try with Soy milk or coconut cream…It may not taste as original as this method but will help you.
