Great Britain is an *island* and does not include Northern Ireland.
The United Kingdom (whose extended name is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) is the (sovereign) *state* that includes the countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. And one of its informal names is Britain. Not Great Britain, that is the *island*, but just Britain, a nickname for the UK.
So yes, you can call the Scots British. Obviously neither one of those two is English.

The Scots are British, Just take a look at any of there passports, Great Britain is made up of four countries and anyone in those countries is British. Yeh the Scots dont like the English but there still British. Trust me Im Scottish

Let me clarify this. Britain is England, Scotland and Wales. They are all constituent countries. The United Kingdom also includes Northern Ireland. Sean Connery is a proud Scot that much is true, but he is British. Fool.
